HTC Tytn II: A Review
By vinayakgole
Review
The Tytn II has been a pioneer in the HTC stable and has been a trendsetter for most of the PDA phones available in the market today. Though a bit bulky, the phone comes with many interesting features like the slide through full QWERTY keypad, 3G, 3 MP camera and a neat touch screen. The phone comes with the Windows Mobile 6 operating system and the unique “spinning cube” navigation interface. The phone undoubtedly is not just Tytanic in style but also a Tytn in features.
The Basics:
Design and Display:
The phone comes in silver and piano black color with a 2.8 inch TFT
screen. The phone is heavier by its standards at 190 Gms. Below the
screen are placed the quick navigation buttons for calls and the
navigation pad. The best part of the phone is the easy slide through
wherein the front of the phone can be slid through to reveal a full
QWERTY keypad. The top of the phone can be tilted to create something
of a baby laptop. The keys are conveniently designed and are slightly
elevated which makes the two thumb typing much easier and convenient.
The phone features HTC’s well known “spinning cube” that lends a touch
of style to the convenience of the navigation.
The screen also acts as a mode of input with a virtual full QWERTY keypad and handwriting recognition.
Multimedia:
The phone comes with a 3.15 MP with both still image and video
capturing capabilities. The camera comes with built in auto focus that
ensures best quality pictures. The phone also acts as a video camera
with the screen acting as a view finder.
A smaller VGA camera is placed at the front to enable video calling.
The windows Media player is capable of playing music files from MP3 to
WMA. The media player also lets you create your own playlists and also
lets you shuffle or repeat songs. The combination of the large screen
and the media player takes the experience of high definition videos to
an entirely different level.
A FM radio though not significant is a very conspicuously missing feature.
Organizer and Email:
The HTC Tytn II lets you plan your day well in advance with a great
organizer, contacts and email synchronization, notes and calendar.
Like every other HTC, the tytn is capable of handling every type of
email from instant push email to web mail. Just set it up on the phone
and never be out of touch of anything important.
