LG Arena
Review
LG has been aggressively launching touch screen mobile phones to compete with the best in the market. The only competition who seems to be keeping up with LG is Samsung. In an era where mobile phone double up as a lot of other things, every new phone lands in the market amidst a vast expectations laid down by the users. LG’s latest entrant the Arena not only manages to live up to these expectations but also manages to dazzle the users with its neat features.
The Basics:
Design and Display:
The design of the Arena is not
something for LG to be proud of. The phone looks like a copy of the
phone. The phone though is much lighter at 105 Gms and is available in three
colors: Silver, Titan Black, and Dusty Pink. The navigation though is the S-class
which is similar to HTC’s TouchFlo navigation. To navigate between the screens
is as easy as simply flicking a finger across the screen.
The display of the Arena though is a touch apart. Featuring a 3 inch touch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480, the Arena is able to push back many of the competitors back into shadow. The screen though an ordinary TFT screen as compared to the OLED screen of Samsung, manages to dazzle with its bright and clear display. The display is powered by a powerful graphics processor which manages to register your click the moment you place your finger on the screen.
The phone also comes with an accelerometer which rotates the screen whenever the phone is rotated. Also a proximity sensor is provided which turns off the phone automatically when not in use.
Multimedia:
Though not the best in the category, the Arena still manages to silence the competition with its excellent multimedia capabilities. The phone comes with a whopping 5 MP camera complete with Schneider-Kreuznach optics. Get the best pictures possible with the built in autofocus, image stabilizer and digital zoom. The bright LED flash ensures you have clear and crisp pictures even in the darkest of days.
The camera can also capture video in addition to the images. Get ready to create some special effects with the built in QVGA time-lapse and slow-motion video recording.
A secondary camera is also provided at the front to enable video calling.
Music and movies take center stage in this excellent multimedia device which can play both DIVX and XVID videos in addition to the regular list of media. The built in speakers though do not do full justice to low tones but that can easily be compensated for with the use of external earphones for which a 3.5 mm jack is provided.
Organizer and email:
A great organizer with local calendar takes care of planning your days in advance.
As for email, the phone is compatible with every kind of email possible from push to web based email protocols.
