The sunshine
48On this lonely road, alone I walked,
No one to bother, everyone baulked.
But I knew I had to do what I had to,
Live life, survive, never rue.
The road was lone, and the night dark,
Man and animal, all enemies, they bark.
Waiting for a ray of hope, I carried on,
Hoping to see the sun, and the battle won.
And then you, ray of light, came along one day,
Spreading cheer and love in your own special way.
Sunshine you made the walk so easy,
Darkness, fear and hatred seemed so queasy.
But life never could let me happy be,
The sun set again, happy I could never be.
For you were gone, b’ for I could in your love bask,
Memories, aaah, forgetting you is such a rueful task.
I hope to see you again someday,
As someone else, in some other way.
I hope you shine in my life again,
Spreading cheer, after the dark rain.
